QPACKDynamicInserts Method

Returns how many QPACK dynamic-table insertions the request encoder has performed.

Syntax

function QPACKDynamicInserts: Integer;

Return Value

Total number of entries the encoder has inserted into the QPACK dynamic table on this connection. (Integer)

Remarks

QPACK (RFC 9204) is the header-compression scheme of HTTP/3. Beyond a static table of common header fields, it keeps a dynamic table of entries seen on the connection so later requests can reference them by index instead of resending the literal text. This method reports how many such insertions the client encoder has made since the connection was opened.

The counter is a diagnostic aid: a healthy value that grows over the first requests and then levels off means repeated headers are being compressed by reference. A value that stays at zero means every header is being sent literally, which usually indicates the peer advertised a SETTINGS_QPACK_MAX_TABLE_CAPACITY of zero. Compare it against PeerSettings to confirm.

The counter is never reset while the connection is open and starts again from zero on a new connection.

This member is currently available in the Delphi/C++Builder implementation only.

Example

oClient.Get('https://www.example.com/a');

oClient.Get('https://www.example.com/b');

ShowMessage(Format('QPACK inserts: %d', [oClient.QPACKDynamicInserts]));
