ReadTimeout bounds how long a synchronous verb method blocks waiting for the server to complete the response. It also bounds the wait for the response headers in ExtendedConnect.
Raise it for endpoints that are slow to produce a body, such as long-running reports or streamed answers. Lower it when a request should fail fast.
The timeout applies to receiving a response, not to opening the connection, which is governed by ConnectTimeout.
