OpenSSL 1.1 and 3.*

While the openSSL libraries 1.0 and 1.1 are not receiving any more updates, users should consider to use the latest openSSL 3.0 or 3.1 APIs. 

Find below the differences between 3.0 and 3.1:

  • OpenSSL 3.0 is a Long Term Support version and will be supported till 7th September 2026.
  • OpenSSL 3.1 will be supported till 14th March 2025.

Currently, the recommended version is OpenSSL 3.1 because has addressed some performance issues detected on the OpenSSL 3.0 version.


Current OpenSSL Versions

sgcWebSockets and sgcIndy libraries support the following openSSL API Versions and the latest libraries can be downloaded from the private user account or use the automatic installer to get the latest openSSL libraries.

- OpenSSL 3.2.1: experimental, the latest openSSL API Version.

- OpenSSL 3.1.5: the currently recommended library, supported till 14 March 2025.

- OpenSSL 3.0.13: LTS supported till 17 September 2026.

- OpenSSL 1.1.1w: (deprecated) the latest release of the 1.1 openSSL API.

OpenSSL 1.0.2u: (deprecated) the latest supported by indy.
